General Conduct
Be Respectful and Kind Treat all members with respect. Comments should be thoughtful and constructive, not snarky or demeaning.
Assume Good Faith. Always respond to the strongest, most plausible interpretation of someone's comment. Avoid making assumptions about others or their intentions.
Focus on the Topic. Stay on-topic and avoid shallow dismissals. If you're going to criticize a post or comment, make sure your feedback adds value or teaches the community something. Generic complaints like "Elon sucks" will be removed.
No Political or Ideological Battles. Relatedly, this platform is for discussing cars, not for political or ideological arguments.
No Anonymous Posts. All members must use a consistent, non-anonymous identity within the community. The internet is an easy place to hide behind a keyboard or account name to attack others, thus throwaway accounts are not permitted.
Flag, Don't Argue. If you see a post or comment that violates the rules, do not engage with it or complain publicly. Flag it for the moderators to review.
Posting Content
What to Post: We welcome anything that a car enthusiast would find interesting. This includes new car news, rare sightings, technical insights, historical deep dives, and discussions about new automotive phenomena.
What not to Post:
Off-Topic or Clickbait Content: Avoid politics, gossip, or Mustang crash videos. Cute cat videos and memes have their place elsewhere on the internet.
Local-Only Content: This is intended to be an international community. "Sightings" posts for the ZL1 at Broad St and Second Ave are not relevant to the site. If you are giving a recap an event in your area please intro it as such.
Promotional Content: This is not a platform for self-promotion. Do not use the group to primarily promote your YouTube channel, Instagram, or other businesses. You may post a link to your content but please put the effort in to make it a high quality post on the carsthencoffee site itself.
Sale Ads: Relatedly, no For Sale posts are allowed. With enough demand we can create a separate section on the site.
Crafting Your Post:
Titles: Use the original source title unless it is misleading or clickbait. Do not use all caps, exclamation points, or gratuitous numbers (e.g., "10 Ways to..." should become "How to...").
Original Source: Always submit the original source of the content you're sharing. If you're sharing an article, you should have read it first.
No "The Carrara White Porsche Registry" Posts. Do not create posts that solicit users to share photos of their cars or respond to others in a chain. This is a discussion forum... but not that kind of discussion forum.
Moderation
Moderator Discretion: The moderators have the final say on what content is permitted, especially regarding post quality.
Removal of Content: The following will be removed without warning:
- Comments with no intellectual value.
- Derogatory or snarky comments.
- Posts that fail to be respectful of the worldwide community.
- Any post or comment that violates these rules.
Consequences: Repeat offenses may result in a permanent ban.
